Bluetooth Antenna Modification
Written by Administrator

I modified the antenna of my usb bluetooth, the range of the device used to be very small, now the damn thing works almost like my wifi router used to work!

I didn't buy anything for this mod since I already had everything needed, the antenna was taken from my fried dlink router along with its "piggy tail", well that's basically all you need =0)

This mod also requires a bit of soldering skills but nothing fancy

Tools needed:
Soldering iron,solder,super glue and for cosmetics, Patex glue!

These are the pics of my Trendnet bluetooth before and after the antenna modification

Very small range!

Crazy range(before cosmetics), my phone now connects to the pc throughout the whole house... Even if you got 3-4 concrete walls between the 2 devices!

After my cosmetic appliance of Patex to the part of plastic where i cut...

This mod is very simple, you have to desolder the antenna on the bluetooth

The antenna looks like this, its the blue thing with WTC printed on it.

It has 6 connectors, the ones on the right side are not important, they are only there to hold the antenna...
The ones on the left are important.

Carefully desolder the pins, remove the antenna and solder the end of the pig tail in its place, the side of the pig tail
should be soldered to the ground pins and the middle should be soldered to the middle.. very simple...

Once you're done soldering, apply some super glue to the pig tail and at the end of the board (not where you soldered!!!) and stick them together, this will hold the solder when some force is applied to the pigtail, i personally applied super glue then a layer of Patex(i love patex =0P ) this way it's super secure...

Then make a small drill on the cover of the bluetooth where the cable will go out from, close the cover, apply some super glue to close the cover, apply some Patex to where you drilled(once the wire is in it of course...) this will make super sure that the wire won't come out
and no pressure will be applied to the solder point.

Congrats, now you have a super bluetooth!

Sir Bob knows best
Your = belongs to you
You're = you are

E.g. Once YOU'RE done soldering YOU'RE ready to go with YOUR bluethooth dongle.

Personally not personnaly.

Sorry Admin, I think it must have been the 8th or 9th time I had seen that misuse of your and you're today - mostly at work - and I flipped slightly. It does indeed look like a good hack.

Cheers,
Bob

RE:Can you do it with mobile phone?
hehe you read my mind, I'm gona give it a shot on my old nokia 6600 once i backup my messages from it. The plan is to have a small place where i can plug the bluetooth antennae when i want to increase the range.

No hay posibilidad de publicar el mismo artículo, pero en castellano?

Ya que con el Traductor Google, uno se da una idea de lo que menciona, pero no esactamente lo q dice.
